From the second pitch of the game, the Diboll Lumberjacks flexed their muscle in a 13-1 five-inning win over Westwood Friday night at Nicolson Field.

In the first inning, Ketaraus Stanton, on the second pitch, launched a home run over the right field wall.

That started an eight-run inning for Diboll as the Lumberjacks sent 12 batters to the plate.

Diboll put together five runs but also took advantage of four Westwood errors in the inning to establish the big lead.

Stanton added an RBI single in the first inning and scored another first inning run. The Diboll left hander hit another home run in the fifth inning and for the game he was 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Diboll added a single run in the second inning and then increased the lead to 11-0 in the fourth inning as Carlos Moreno and Chance Johnson hit back-to-back two run singles to score two runs.

After Diboll put two more runs on the board in the top of the fifth inning, Westwood answered with one in the bottom half but it was not enough.

Westwood’ lone run came as John Welch reached on an error, moved over to third on Ryan Mackie’s ground out to shortstop and scored on Randle Reeves groundout to second base.

Westwood managed only two hits in the game, a Tony Humphries single in the third inning and a Devon Hassell single in the fourth.
