WACO — The Palestine Wildcats split a pair of games Wednesday in the first day of the Robinson Holiday Classic at Robinson High School.

Palestine started the day with a 56-52 win over Gainsville and then lost to Mart 59-56 in the second game.

In the win over Gainsville, Palestine trailed 30-15 at halftime but the Wildcats (3-8) outscored Gainsville 19-9 in the third quarter to get within five points and then used a 22-13 fourth quarter to rally and win the game.

Greg Anderson and Chrys Davis led Palestine with 14 points while Lester Anderson and Kevin Birdow had 10 points each.

In the second game, Palestine struggled in the first half, getting behind Mart 31-23 at halftime. Mart opened up an 18-point lead in the third quarter but the Wildcats fought back and tied the game with a minute to play.

However, Mart converted from the free throw line to seal the win.

Greg Anderson and Lester Anderson led Palestine with 14 points each while Birdow had 13 points.

Palestine will conclude the classic at 3 p.m. today at Valley Mills.



Cayuga 46, Slocum 34



BETHEL — The Cayuga Wildcats used a 21-point fourth quarter to rally over Slocum 46-34 Wednesday afternoon in non-district action.

Cayuga (12-9) struggled to shoot the ball as the Wildcats only scored one point in the second quarter and trailed Slocum 20-13 at halftime and 30-25 after three quarters. However, Cayuga outscored Slocum 21-4 in the fourth quarter.

Carlton Lester had a double-double for Cayuga with a team-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Darnell Walker added nine points and Sam Downe had eight points.

Cayuga will host Quinlan Boles Friday with the JV game starting at 1 p.m. followed by the varsity game.
