Oakwood senior Trisdon Bynum has committed to fish for Schreiner University in Kerrville next fall. Schreiner Coach Raymond Holloway was on hand for a signing ceremony at OHS on Wednesday afternoon.

Bynum has been a multi-sport athlete at Oakwood and has earned 1A honors including All State Quarterback, All State Basketball, 2nd Team Outfielder in baseball, State Qualifier in Bass Fishing, Regional Qualifier in Cross Country, and Regional Qualifier in golf.

Bynum has competed in high school fishing meets for two years, since Oakwood began participating in the Texas High School Bass Association (THSBA) tournaments. That often meant participating in Friday night's football or baseball game and being on the water early Saturday morning.

Bynum's fishing partner last year was Ethan Edgemon and for this school year he partnered with Bastion Pickens. Their captain was Travis Bynum. Trisdon has received (two) $500 scholarships from placing in the Top Ten in tournaments, as well as winning rods, fishing reels, and Academy gift cards. He was a State qualifier this year in bass fishing.

Trisdon is the son of Travis and Traci Bynum. He plans to major in biology and minor in criminal justice at Schreiner.

“I'm really nervous and excited to fish for Schreiner University,” Bynum shared. “I appreciate the opportunity Coach Holloway has given me. I have a lot of people who have my back and will push me to always do my best."
