The Texas Youth Advocates’ Sixers 18-U boys basketball team had a big weekend in Murphy, Texas recently and earned their first championship of this summer season. The team went 3-1 at the Lone Star State Classic held July 13-14 at the Plano Sports Authority facility, for the best record in their division in the round-robin style tournament.

The Sixers came out on top in a 56-54 battle with ETBC Cougars, then shocked the Lawton Shockwave, 69-56. Their only loss was to UIC5 (62-57), but the Sixers came back with a 71-68 victory over Powerhouse Elite for the championship title.

This team has one more tournament. They will be participating in the PrimeTime National Tournament July 25-28 in Dallas. Coach Dwight Carter says, “Last year we got fifth. Looking to bring home the championship this year.”
