The Westwood Lady Panthers won their district opener against the Leon Lady Cougars at home Tuesday night, finishing with a score of 8-5.

Marina Powell earned the win and contributed two base hits toward the cause. EmiLee Vasquez added a triple and Korbyn Bassett hit a single, then added a three-run double in the 6th inning that gave the Lady Panthers the lead going into the top of the 7th.

Madison Roberson also contributed with a big defensive night in the outfield. The Lady Panthers will be playing in the Tyler Lonestar Tournament this weekend and will travel to New Waverly next Tuesday for their second district game.

The Westwood junior varsity girls fell 6-2 against Leon. Autumn Stevens, Jessilyn Jenkins, and Kaylan Chavers each contributed a hit for the cause.
